Yoga

Yoga means “union” or ‘to join”.

At Stellenbosch Yoga, we focus on the three limbs of yoga – asana (body), pranayama (mind) and meditation (soul).

During our sessions, all three limbs are emphasised in varying degrees, with the body being the vehicle, the mind the engine, and the soul the driver.

Men’s Vitality Yoga (men only)

Our men’s yoga classes have been specifically designed to meet the differing physical needs of men in a non-competitive and supportive environment.

The emphasis is on developing greater self-awareness and improved flexibility.

Many men find that yoga also greatly improves agility, functional strength, health and vitality, while helping to reduce stress. Yoga also perfectly complements many other sports and fitness activities.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Vinyasa yoga finds its roots in ashtanga yoga.

It’s a very powerful physical practice that focuses on meditation and an ancient yogic breathing technique called ujjayi, which allow for a deeply restorative experience.

We flow from one pose to the next without a lot of talk time between postures. Alignment cues are given while in the postures.

Yin Yoga

This is a slower style of yoga that emphasises longer holds of up to five minutes or more.

Yin yoga helps to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility, using props to let gravity do the work on your connective tissues.
